About Lorna

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog 🙂

For as long as I can remember I have loved to write. From short stories at primary school to reflective diary entries and experimental poetry at university, setting my thoughts down on paper has long been an incredibly cathartic and exhilarating way to express myself. In my third year of studying English, Creative Writing and Journalism at the University of Strathclyde, I finally set up this blog to showcase my work, encourage myself to write more regularly and to continually strive for improvement.

My ‘writer’s voice’ has evolved somewhat over the years and I like to explore a mixture of different writing styles. This being said, I mainly go between writing in a broad Scots (dialect) style and standard English.

My Scottish work pays homage to the great Ayrshire poet, Robert Burns, who, in addition to being a remarkably gifted writer, stood for values of decency, equality and fairness among his fellow men (see his beautiful ‘A Man’s A Man For A’ That’).

I’m immensely proud to also hail from Ayrshire, and I’ll do my best to make you laugh and/or cry (hopefully in a good way) with my own Scottish and English writing.

I hope you enjoy clicking through my work, and please feel free to comment and get in touch with me via email or Twitter.

Thanks for visiting 🙂
